Grid flexibility through hydropower at the heart of energy transition: discuss it with us during HYDRO2022 on our stand!
From the 25th to the 27th of April, the HYDRO 2022 Technical Exhibition will showcase the most active and innovative companies in the hydropower and dams industry. SuperGrid Institute is thrilled to be participating as an exhibitor at the conference for the first time! We will be shining a light on our innovative technologies for hydraulic systems which improve grid flexibility. Don’t miss us!
Grid flexibility is an issue at the heart of energy transition, a requirement for managing the intermittence of renewable energy resources. Wind and solar energy are highly variable so massive and reactive means of storage are needed in order to use these energies on a wide scale. Although hydraulic storage is a mature technology, it will need to be greatly adapted to meet the challenges of energy transition.
A stand to showcase our expertise and testing facilities
As an independent expert with unique hydraulic testing capabilities, we develop technologies to optimise hydraulic assets’ operational flexibility and efficiency. SuperGrid Institute’s R&D focuses on the technological aspects of adapting conventional or variable speed pump turbines and improving their hydraulic characteristics. We also study the hybridisation of pumped storage plants (PSP) with other means of storage and work on the economics of ancillary services.
Come and meet our experts at our stand no°28! They will tell you all about our testing facilities and innovative solutions for hydraulic systems.
- Our HydroPHIL platform, the first of its kind in Europe, is designed to simulate the performance of hydroelectric dams within the power grid. The platform focuses on hydraulic transitions and, more generally, on the unsteady regimes associated with the operation of hydraulic turbines: power build-up, start-ups, shutdowns, etc.
- Thanks to our hydraulic platform we are capable of testing every kind of reversible pump turbine in all four quadrants to gather data on their efficiency, cavitation and dynamic behavior according to IEC 60193 standard requirements.
See you there!
